Job Summary:
The Head of the CIO India Delivery Hub is responsible for establishing, scaling, and leading a high-performing technology hub in India that acts as a fully integrated extension of the global CIO organization. The Hub will encompass Development, QA, UX, and related technology functions, and will include an IT Academy designed to develop graduate talent into productive engineering professionals. This role serves as the senior-most CIO leader in India and is an active member of the Global CIO Leadership Team. Operating under the strategic direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) based in Europe, the leader ensures that India-based teams operate seamlessly with European colleagues as part of a cohesive, globally aligned technology organization. The role has a dotted line reporting to the Country Head, India for local direction, ecosystem and collaboration with various local functions.
The position requires strong people leadership, organizational-building capability, and the ability to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration across functions in the region while preserving the operational, cultural, and strategic unity of the global CIO organization.
Key Responsibilities:
CIO Delivery Hub Leadership:
Build, lead, and scale the CIO Delivery Hub in India, as an integrated, strategic extension of the global CIO organization.
Ensure the India Hub operates “eye-to-eye” with European teams, using shared processes, standards, governance, and culture.
Represent the CIO organization within India and participate actively in global CIO leadership discussions and initiatives.
Develop and execute long-term growth plans for the hub, ensuring the right mix of capabilities, seniority levels, and functional coverage.
People Leadership & Team Enablement:
Lead the hiring, onboarding, and development of teams across Development, QA, UX, and complementary delivery roles.
Provide strong coaching and performance management, ensuring clear career paths, high engagement, and talent retention.
Cultivate a culture of ownership, quality, transparency, and collaborative delivery.
Ensure teams have the right tools, environment, and support to work in full alignment with global standards.
Global Collaboration & Delivery Alignment:
Partner closely with European functional leaders to align priorities, delivery expectations, and ways of working.
Support predictable, sustainable delivery by coordinating capacity planning, workflow management, and cross-regional alignment.
Promote seamless communication between India-based teams and global stakeholders to avoid silos and ensure clarity of expectations.
IT Academy Leadership:
Establish and manage an IT Academy to nurture university graduates in engineering fundamentals, QA practices, product basics, and essential soft skills.
Oversee structured learning programs and ensure graduates are effectively transitioned into CIO teams.
Build relationships with universities and institutions to maintain a strong pipeline of emerging talent.
Local Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work with local HR, Finance, Facilities, and other support functions to ensure smooth operations, compliance, and employee engagement.
Align with the Country Head, India, on regional policies, legal standards, and organizational matters, while maintaining CIO identity, culture, and global integration.
Candidate Profile & Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in managing technology teams or scaling high-performing engineering organisations.
Proven expertise in Project and Delivery Management across Waterfall and Agile methodologies e.g., PMI/PMBOK or PRINCE2 for structured delivery (stage-gates, milestones, change control) Scrum/Kanban/SAFe for iterative delivery.
Experience with hybrid governance, RAID/dependency management, and planning across distributed teams is a strong advantage.
Demonstrated track record in people leadership, coaching, and organizational development.
Experience managing or collaborating with distributed, cross-regional teams.
Strong understanding of modern engineering, QA, and UX practices, tools, and workflows.
Experience running or contributing to graduate training or academy programs is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work in diversified culture.
